Christmas Questionnaire

http://fabulousinfirst.blogspot.com/

I'm linking up with Michelle over at Fabulous in First for this little Seasonal Survey that she created. It's fun and I thought what a great way to get to know some others this season.

Hot Chocolate or Eggnog?
Hot chocolate most definitely. I'm not a coffee drinker or anything else really. (Not even sure if I've ever even tried eggnog to be honest? Hmm??) but hot chocolate will be just fine.

Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them underneath the tree?
Growing up Santa always left them on the couch. I had one side, my sister had the other side. Now Santa still leaves some stuff out and wraps the rest. My mom gets into that.
We don't have any kids yet but when we ever do, Santa will definitely leave them out while they are younger.

Colored lights or white?
Always colored until this past two-three years it's been white lights. I like to change it up.

When do you decorate?
Normally the day after Thanksgiving. This year---um last weekend and it's only the tree. The hubby's back is out of wack so we could only get down the tree from upstairs. So I just put that up and called it a day.

Real or Fake Tree?
We tried a real tree when I was younger but my sis ended up being allergic to it. So from then on we've always had a fake tree, and now the hubs and I have had a fake tree all these years....so fake all the way! :)

What Tops Your Tree?
A bow this year. Again--only putting up the tree, all of my decorations are upstairs except for two boxes of ornaments. The angel that normally tops the tree is still upstairs. So I made a bow.

Favorite Christmas Memories or Traditions?
Well my parents divorced when I was 8, so it's always been a sharing time for us. It always worked out and we were able to spend equal time at each house but knowing that Santa visited each house was really neat. Also, just going to my grandma's houses and seeing all of my family.
And now that I've been married almost 9 years---having a third house to visit as far as parents goes has made it even busier-----so it's still up at 5 am to start Christmas morning.
Yes 5 am....and remember we don't have kids yet----and when we do.....everyone is taking a number or picking an hour and coming to our house! LOL

Do you remember your favorite gift as a child?
Not really. I remember lots of gifts but never had a particular favorite gift that I remember. I was so excited just to see everything. I love getting stuff in my stocking! That was/is always fun.

Do prefer giving or receiving?
Giving. I get so excited for people to open the gifts I gave them to see what their reaction is.
This is why I don't buy presents early----I can't wait to give them!

What is your favorite Christmas song?
Mary Did You Know? and I want a hippopotamus for Christmas. It's hilariously stupid, but the funniest song to me. I introduced it to the kiddos this week...they kept wanting to hear but my IA was looking at me like I had lost my mind! :)

Candy Canes. Yuck or Yum?
I could really care less. I like peppermints sometimes, but just to eat a candy cane...nah I'll pass.

Favorite Christmas Movie?
Prancer is always good. The Santa Clause. And of course the classics---Rudolph, Frosty, and Christmas Vacation.

Do you shop online or at stores?
At stores. Easier for me personally and I'm a touchy person. I need to pick up stuff and turn it over and everything to check it out! :)

Photo Cards, Letter or Store Bought Card?
Anything. In today's world, getting real mail that is NOT a bill is so exciting! :)

It's been a while....

It's been quite a bit since I last posted....busy busy busy as I know you all are. With trying to finish our last few fun things at school before the holidays, having the SHORTEST break ever and finishing up stuff for Christmas, it's been pretty hectic around here.

Here is a pic or two of some things we did before school got out....and it's well..only a couple..sorry! I just realized that I didn't take as many as I thought I did...ahhh darn.

We had fun with the Grinch....of course I didn't take any more pics than this...

The Grinch stole Christmas.
(love how she looked around the room to find the word Christmas)

The Grinch stole Christmas. He was not happy. His heart grew two sizes.
He got stuck in the chimney. He stole all of their presents.

The Grinch got stuck in the chimney. He took all of the presents. He took all of the food.

Then instead of making a list of things we know about Christmas. We made a book.

We discussed parts of a book, what does a book need, and how we will make one.
So the first day we discussed a title and the kiddos decided since it's about everything we see, hear, smell, etc. during Christmas then it should appropriately be titled All About Christmas.
Each page had one word with an illustration to go with it.

Here is my friend working on his picture for the word presents.

Sorry for the lack of pictures. My goal for the new year is to take more pics of what we do in class.....I just forget b/c we get so busy.

I have been working on a few new things.

I use newsletters in my classroom to let the parents know what is going on. And I like to change them up quite a bit. So I created a set of newsletter templates for the entire year for you. The set includes two formats for each month and they are both editable.
One set has updates, upcoming events, star student, homework, and classroom needs. The other set is blank so that you can add your own headings as you need.

Each set includes graphics that are NOT editable to go along with each month.

Another activity that I just uploaded is a sight word game.
Click on the picture to take you to my store.

This game includes:
2 game boards (one blank, one with varying activities on each spot)
100 sight words (pre-primer and primer list)
 freeze cards
2 dice (one with numbers/one with move ahead, back, etc.)
a sheet for students to record the words they read, tally how many, write the number, and write any words that they may have had trouble with.

More to come soon....Happy New Year!!
