Five For Friday!!

Yay! I made it on a Friday. And not only that....it's now MY Spring Break! I've been so jealous of all of you who have already had your break...ours is so late this year. But now it's here and I'm in need of a nap. A full moon + last week before break....cray-cray children! :)

The week before spring break for teachers..... Two words: CROWD CONTROL.

Now it's Five For Friday time!

We worked in "eggy" stations this week!

Crack open a egg and clap out the number of syllables of each picture. Sort in the basket.

 Easter Egg Math.

Making words

Every year we dye Easter eggs.

We played a math review game on the Mimio. The students are split into two teams. They click on a bunny and a question comes up. If they get it right, they can put their team picture on that bunny. The team with the most wins.

Grab it over at Mimio Connect

We had an Easter Hat Parade at school today!

We had an egg hunt too....but somehow...my pics are gone! :(

I'm featured over at Greg's blog! And we're having a little giveaway!!

Five For Friday--Dr. Seuss Style

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for her weekly Five For Friday.....just a day late!

This week was a little hectic and rushed for Dr. Seuss week. We went to school on Monday and left at 12:00 because of incoming icy weather. And boy did it turn icy. That night, just freezing rain for an hour or more. That meant no school on Tuesday. But Wednesday, we started...and did as much as possible to celebrate the most famous author's birthday.

We did a directed drawing of the Cat and Things 1 and 2. I didn't get many pictures of their writing afterwards, but it was soooo cute.

We made green eggs and ham. It looks so gross now. And we graphed whether or not we liked them.

Pete joined in on the fun!

And guess what we watched on Friday???!!! (One of my students was saying everysinglelineinthemovie!!!) Wonder how many times he's seen it?

Trying my hardest to get this finished.....labor of love...

Five for Saturday

Mid-year math assessments began this week and with two TWO-hour delays due to the bitter cold (which we are NOT comfortable with here in good 'ole NC) it's made for a busy week. I finished all of the math and the DIBELS window opens up next week. With next week being a three day workweek (two are workdays) and the next week a four day week.....it's crunch time!

http://doodlebugsteaching.blogspot.com/

But we've had some fun in between assessments.

Sticker stories!!! This was the first time we created sticker stories this year. The kiddos LOVED them.

The pencil drawing on the right side of the picture is the satellite that the astronauts work on in space!!!
(He looked at me like..."don't you know this??")

Snowflake Bingo with marshmallows!

 Word family sort.

With the frigid temps, we thought it would be fun to freeze water outside and then see how fast it takes to melt the cubes. Well....the water didn't freeze outside. (And it was no higher than 20 on Tuesday and Wednesday). So when all else fails stick the trays in the cafeteria freezer!!

We started out Penguin Unit this week and had fun trying to walk like penguins with "eggs" on our feet.

We also loved watching the Penguin Cam at Sea World (you can change the camera angle too!!) and Monterey Bay Aquarium (twice a day you can watch the penguins get fed).
I also found one at the Columbus Zoo

I am also thisclose to having 300 likes on Mrs. Thigpen's Kindergarten FB page.
I would love to some flash freebies this weekend if I can get some more likes. I offer up quite a few on FB and I don't announce it here on the blog. So head on over to FB and like my page to stay up to date and possibly catch some freebies!!!
