Sale, Giveaway, Randomness......

Totally bad at blogging/posting/writing/creating and all that other awesome stuff that you guys have been working hard on.

Last night was grad school (I am in a cohort---so I only go once a week and my university SENDS a professor to us!! No traveling outside of my town, and on a few little blackboard assignments online---it's been wonderful!) so I had a presentation and a packet due, which were simple enough, just time-consuming putting it together. But now I'm down to TWO Mondays---and really only one that I'll be present at. And the last Monday, our awesome professor is taking us out to eat. So if you really think about it....last night was THE LAST NIGHT OF CLASS FOR ME!!! WOOHOOO!! 20 months has gone by so quickly....

So the presentation I did was on this book:

I was introduced to this book be a colleague of mine. I bought it when school got out for the summer but never really dug into it until last week as I was working on my presentation! ;)

It's so good. Sometimes I struggle with teaching writing because well....I never know what order I should teach something. Am I getting ahead of myself, am I going to slow? How in the world do I differentiate writing with 26 kiddos....ya know....all that kind of stuff.

But this book really breaks it down. It's Common Core aligned so that really helps. It has a suggested pacing guide, mentor texts lists, rubrics and just about anything else you can think of. It provides mini-lessons, writer's workshop ideas (NEED!!!), and other information that I think will really help with differentiation when teaching writing (NEED THIS TOO!).

***No I'm not getting anything from posting about this book (not that I'd say no or anything...haha!) but I just really like the format and the resources*** It does come with a resource cd as well with all of the pdf's included (LOVE!)

I'm going to be planning and creating some things to use while I'm teaching writing to go along with this book so I'll be sharing more with you as time goes on.

They have it for all grades so go check it out!

Don't forget about my HUGE giveaway!!

As for randomness.....here's a wreath I made today for my house. Not as perfect as I wanted it to be but I definitely think it came out cute....my door was lonely. I'm still fiddling with the burlap b/c it wants to get a little crooked but ah well...it's outside and from a distance you can't tell it! :)
